Mauritania Best Travel Place:
1. Saudi mosque (Nouakchott)
Mosque Saudique is a mosque in Nouakchott, Mauritania. It is located southwest of the Presidential Palace and immediately west of the Chamber of Commerce. The mosque was built by Saudi money.
Just went there to pray,a fabulous mosque but the maintenance is poor as in many other places, for Muslims a convenient place to pray, nothing really to add since my visit was too short in that evening.
It is not a key architectural or historic mosque, one could find the moroccan mosque if to look for similar modern buildings. However, this one is the oldest large mosque in Nouakchott and I should recognize Imam's preaches are of valid references for mauritanians as for their state in a period where salafism and extremism grow.
2. Plage de Nouakchott
Nice beach on the Pacific Ocean, clean, and hove may be two or three restaurant and you can enjoy your sea food on the beach. The beach is very beautiful and the water has a turquoise blue. It is a foreign s beach so we were allowed to wear swimming suits, but you will see woman dressed in their Muslim clothes around. The infrastructure is not the best but there is a small restaurant with decent food. I ordered the shrimp dish and it was ok.
Visited a stretch of beach north of town and found a dozen or so people lounging, eating at one of two nearby restaurants and taking an occasional dip in the water. No waves for body surfing or anything but bobbing around. Nothing special about it.
Beautiful sunset with amazing sand beach along the sight. warm and speaks for a lot of history. a must visit with paying attention to beach rules and regulations
3. Nouadhibou
Nouadhibou is the second largest city in Mauritania and serves as a major commercial centre. The city itself has about 118,000 inhabitants expanding to over 140,000 in the larger metropolitan area, a total of nearly 95% of the entire regional population and is the country's economic capital. It is situated on a 65-kilometre peninsula or headland called Ras Nouadhibou, Cap Blanc, or Cabo Blanco, of which the western side, with the city of La Güera, is part of Western Sahara. Nouadhibou is consequently located merely a couple of kilometers from the border between Mauritania and Western Sahara. Its current mayor is Mohamed Fadel ould Aboubekrine
